Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Announces Next Generation Low-Voltage MOSFET Technology

August 9, 2011

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 9, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited (AOS) (Nasdaq:AOSL), a designer, developer and global supplier of a broad range of power semiconductors, today unveiled Gen5, a high performance Trench MOSFET silicon technology that addresses the demanding DC/DC requirements in the Computing and Consumer applications.

The new Gen5 MOSFET technology minimizes conduction and switching losses, as well as switch node ringing in synchronous buck DC/DC converters. Some of the improved key figures of merit (FOMs) compared to the previous generation technology are:

  • 48% FOM improvement of on-resistance times total gate charge (Rds*Qg)
  • 56% FOM improvement of on-resistance times drain-to-gate charge (Rds*Qgd)

"The new Gen5 technology optimizes the critical MOSFET parameters, providing a best-in-class platform for our new low voltage MOSFET products that will deliver excellent performance and ease of design to our customers," said Yalcin Bulut, Vice President of Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Product Lines at AOS.
