Photo Release -- Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Introduces a Family of Low Capacitance Integrated EMI Filters for Advanced Multimedia 3G Portable Devices

May 19, 2010

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 19, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Alpha and Omega Semiconductor (AOS) (Nasdaq:AOSL - News) today announced the release of three new multi-line RC EMI filters. The AOZ8040, AOZ8043, and AOZ8045 provide integrated EMI and RF filtering solutions for high speed wireless data applications such as smart phones, 3G-enabled notebook PCs and eBook readers.

The AOZ804x product family includes devices with 8, 6, and 4 channels of EMI filtering. Leveraging AOS' advanced [TVS] 2 TM technology (Transient Voltage Suppression utilizing Trench Vertical Structures), the products include integrated ESD diodes rated at +/- 20kV, far exceeding the IEC61000-4-2 specification of +/- 8kV contact and +/- 15kV air. The new products provide optimized filter attenuation performance of -20dB at 1GHz and a high cut-off frequency of 250MHz, while offering a low capacitance of 9pF typical to allow faster data speeds and preserving signal integrity.

"By combining excellent filter attenuation performance with key features like high cut-off frequency and low capacitance, our new EMI filter products are ideally suited for filtering unwanted EMI/RF noise in high resolution high bandwidth LCD displays and camera modules that are embedded in next generation portable devices," said Wayne Eng, Product Marketing Director. "Additionally, the new product family features a low profile and small footprint packaging, offering design engineers significant board space savings and design flexibility."
